Registrars of Voters


This department is run by two part time Registrars who are elected for two year terms. The Republican Registrar is Elizabeth A. Tedeschi, phone 860-828-7020, email btedesch@town.berlin.ct.us; the Democratic Registrar is Fred Jortner, phone 860-828-7021, email fjortner@town.berlin.ct.us. Office hours are 8:30 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. Monday through Wednesday and Friday and 3:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Thursday. 

Registration Requirements:


One may register in person or by mail. Mail-In applications may be obtained through the Registrar’s Office, the Town Clerk’s Office, the Motor Vehicle Department, Libraries, Secretary of State website and various Social Service Agencies. Any person who is a bona fide resident of the town, a U.S. Citizen and will be 18 years of age by November 6th is entitled to register and vote in the November election.

Absentee Ballots:


Absentee ballot applications are available in the Town Clerk’s Office. These are available for those persons who will not be able to get to the polls in person for the following reasons: military, absence from town, illness, physical disability, religious beliefs, and poll workers. An application must be filled out before a ballot may be issued

Deadlines for Registering to vote for this election are as follows:
Tuesday, October 23rd is the last day for mail-in registrations.  All cards must be postmarked by this date in order to be accepted.

Tuesday, October 30th is the last day to register to vote.  All registrations between October 23rd and October 30th must be done in person.   This has been extended to Thursday, November 1, 2012 - Voter Registration will be until 8:00 p.m. due to Hurricane Sandy



There will be a special registration for those persons who turn 18, become citizens, or move into town between October 30th and November 5th.  These people may register from 9:00 A.M. to 12:00 noon on Monday, November 5th.

Special Voter Registration Sessions:
Saturday, October 20th from 10:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. in Room 15 at the Berlin Town Hall.
Tuesday, October 30th from 9:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M. in Room 15 at the Berlin Town Hall.

Go to elections and voting.  Under election information - select where do I vote - fill in the requested information (town, name and birthdate) and your voting location will appear.  If it does not come up, contact the Registrars of Voters to make sure you are registered.  Voter registration forms may also be found on this website.
