TOWN OF BERLIN
NOTICE OF REFERENDUM
March 15, 2011
Notice is hereby given to the electors of the Town of Berlin that a referendum will be held on, Tuesday, March 15, 2011, between the hours of 6:00 A.M. and 8:00 P.M. for the purpose of voting on the following question:
Question:
"Shall the ordinance entitled, ‘AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $69,950,000 FOR THE RENOVATION AND EXPANSION OF BERLIN HIGH SCHOOL AND AUTHORIZING THE ISSUE OF $69,950,000 BONDS OF THE TOWN TO MEET SAID APPROPRIATION AND PENDING THE ISSUANCE THEREOF THE MAKING OF TEMPORARY BORROWINGS THEREFORE’ adopted by the Council on December 21, 2010, be approved? YES NO"
The ballot label for said question will read as follows:
"Shall the $69,950,000 appropriation and bond issuance authorization for the renovation and expansion of Berlin High School (expected to be paid from an estimated $22,621,830 State grant and $47,328,170 from Town general obligation bonds) as adopted by ordinance of the Town Council, be approved? YES NO"
The voting will be by paper/electronic ballot. Those desiring to vote for the question shall fill in the box in front of the question on the ballot at “YES”. Those desiring to vote against the question shall fill in the box in front of the question on the ballot at “NO”. Absentee ballots will be made available in accordance with law.
The polls will be open during the hours between 6:00 A.M. and 8:00 P.M. and electors shall cast their votes at the following places in the districts specified:

The full texts of the aforesaid ordinance and question are on file open to public inspection in the Office of the Town Clerk. Absentee ballots will be made available in accordance with law. Central location for counting of absentee ballots will be at the Berlin Town Hall, 240 Kensington Road, Berlin, Connecticut.
The vote on the aforesaid bond ordinance is taken under the authority of Section 6-10-6 of the Charter of the Town of Berlin and Chapter 152 of the Connecticut General Statutes, as amended.
